Ian Gordon provides a range of Instruction Courses,
Guided Fishing and Hosted Fishing experiences and
events via the Speyonline website –
www.speycaster.co.uk.
When you book one of Ian’s services you are entering
into a binding Contract with Ian Gordon of 6 Elsher
Road, Lhanbryde, Elgin, Morayshire, IV30 8QJ under
the Terms and Conditions set out below. It is important
that you read these Terms and Conditions and
understand that the circumstances for safe river fishing
and the catching of migratory fish are not guaranteed
and by booking a fishing experience on a fixed date
you are accepting this risk. These Terms and
Conditions may be supplemented by additional Terms
and Conditions associated with specific Services
offered by Speyonline and the laws, conditions and
practices of individual venues such as for international
hosted fishing events.

1. Definitions
1.1 In these Terms and Conditions, the following
meanings apply:
“Service” or “event” or “fishing” or “booking” means
the instruction course guided fishing or hosted
fishing package that has been purchased from
Speyonline.
“We” or “us” or “our” or “Speyonline” means
Ian Gordon.
“You” or “participant” or “party(s)” or “rod” or
“guest” means the person making the booking and
includes all persons involved in making the
booking and all persons attending and taking part
in the Service that has been booked.

2. Booking and Payment -
2.1 These Terms and Conditions are an integral part of
you're booking. Your Booking Confirmation and
Payment, any additional or supplementary Conditions
that are associated with specific Services or venues,
together with these Terms and Conditions form the
Contract between you and Ian Gordon.
2.2 When you make a booking it is on the
understanding that you have read and accept these
Terms and Conditions.
2.2 Once a booking has been requested by email or
verbally by telephone, you will be sent a booking
confirmation by email. An Invoice will be raised and
sent to you with your Booking Confirmation and the
event will be provisionally booked under your name.
2.3 The event will be held for a period of two weeks if
booked more than 3 months in advance of the date of
the event and for 5 days if booked between 2 months
and 3 months in advance. Any bookings made less
than two months from the start of the event will require
immediate full payment to confirm and hold the
booking event.

2.4 A payment of 50% of the total fee is required to
secure any advanced booking of 3 months or more
and must be received within the periods outlined in
2.3.
2.5 The balance of payment of the full amount due for
an advance booking over 3 months must be received
no less than 3 months (12 weeks) prior to the start date
of the event.
2.6 If the deposit or full payment for your Booking is
not received within the timeframes set out in 2.3, 2.4
and 2.5 then your Booking will not be reserved and will
be offered to another guest.
2.7 Your booking includes a non-refundable
administration charge of 20% of the total value of your
Booking.
2.7 Details for payment of your Booking will be
including in your Booking Confirmation and Invoice.

3. Cancellation by us -
3.1 We cannot be held liable for any conditions that
are out with our direct and reasonable control and if
changes to or cancellation of your Booking is
unavoidable we will make every effort to find
alternative arrangements for the dates of the Booking
where possible or to offer you alternative future dates
for equivalent Services to the value of your Booking.
3.2 We will give you as much advance notice as
possible in relation to any changes to the details of
your Booking and/or if the event may be or is
cancelled, however no minimum notice period can be
offered.
3.3 If you do not wish to accept the alternative
arrangements made for then you will be reimbursed
your Booking fee less the 20% administration charge.
3.4 We are not liable for any costs you may have
incurred directly in relation to the event or service,
including travel and accommodation (see Insurance).

4. Cancellation by you
4.1 If you cancel your Booking for any reason 3
months prior to the commencement date of your
Service, Speyonline will make every effort to re-let
your Booking and if re-let, refund your deposit payment
or full payment less the 20% non-refundable
administration charge.
4.2 If you cancel your Booking for any reason less than
1 month prior to the commencement date of your
Service, Speyonline will make every effort to re-let
your Booking and if re-let, refund full payment less the
50%.
4.3 Re-letting of Bookings is not guaranteed.

5. COVID-19 cancellations
5.1 If COVID-19 related travel, social contact or
accommodation restrictions are imposed in
circumstances that impact on our ability to provide
your Services or your ability to attend and enjoy the

services, Speyonline will make every effort to organise
a suitable alternative at a future date. In some cases

this may require an admin fee of between 10 and 20%.

However, we have good relations with all our partners

and do our utmost to prevent such payments. 
 
6. Insurance
6.1 Speyonline accepts no liability whatsoever for any
damage, injury or loss to any persons or their
belongings.
6.2 Speyonline accepts no liability or responsibility
whatsoever for any adverse weather conditions, acts
of God or events beyond our control.
6.3 It is the responsibility of each person to ensure that
they have suitable insurance cover for the full cost of both
their fishing holiday and their property.
6.4 Speyonline requires each person attending and
participating with its fishing Services to have third party
and public liability insurance of no less than
£1,000,000 sterling. 6.5 It is the responsibility of the
person Booking the Services to ensure that each
member of their party complies with the Insurance
requirements. 

7. Health and Safety
7.1 River fishing is a potentially dangerous sporting
activity and each rod must conduct themselves with
due care and attention at all times, particularly but not
limited to, when wading and when wading conditions
are difficult due to river bed or spate conditions.
7.2 Rods are advised to wear life-jackets at all times
and particularly when wading and fishing from a boat.
Life-jackets may be provided by the fishery however it
is the responsibility of all participants to bring their own
life -jacket and Speyonline accepts no responsibility
should an accident occur or a participant be denied
access to fishing when they have not provided and/or
not worn a life-jacket.
7.3 No boats may be used without the permission of
the landlord’s/ fishery owner’s permission. All rods use
boats at their own risk and must satisfy themselves
that the boats and their equipment are safe. All boats
must be returned to the moorings and properly
secured before departure.

8. Conservation and environment
8.1 Speyonline requires all participants to adhere to
national, local and venue conservation policies at all
times. Speyonline’s representatives and Ghillies will
advise of any specific conservation arrangements and
answer any questions you may have.
8.2 All Rods must have treated their tackle and
equipment against the Gyrodactylus-Salaris parasite
as a condition of participating in any fishing or
instruction activities organised by Speyonline.  

9. General
9.1 All individual fishing participants or individuals
attending the event do so at their own risk and

Speyonline accepts no liability whatsoever in respect
to any loss, injury, or damage arising in connection
with the Service that has been booked by you.
9.2 Every care is taken by Speyonline to ensure that
information provided about your booking, the service
and the venue is accurate and correct and to ensure
that you are notified of any material changes prior to
the date of your booking. However, we are unable to
accept any liability for changes or circumstances,
including delays and fishing conditions that are beyond
our control.
9.3 Except where specifically indicated in our
promotional material and your Booking Information,
you will be responsible for bringing your own fishing
tackle, clothing and safety equipment and arranging
travel to the booking venue and to and from the fishing
location.
9.4 All instructions and decisions given by Ian Gordon,
Speyonline representatives, Ghillies, Keepers and
Fishery Owners and the rules for each fishery will be
final and must be followed. Failure to comply with
these rules and instructions may result in the
cancellation of the rest of your booking.
9.5 Whilst enjoying the Services at the fishing venue,
all participants must behave responsibly:
9.5.1 Allow any fish caught to be inspected by anyone
authorised to do so;
9.5.2 Refrain from lighting any fires;
9.5.3 Avoid unnecessary disturbance or damage to
trees, plants or the river bank;
9.5.4 Take care with fishery property and report any
damage to the boats, oars, shelter and nets to Ian
Gordon, a representative of Speyonline or to a Ghillie.
9.5.5 Make every reasonable endeavor to be
punctual for instruction and fishing start times in the
morning and after lunch.
9.6 The Ghillie’s normal working hours are 9am-5pm
including Saturdays.
9.7 The Ghillie’s attendance at instruction courses,
hosted and guided fishing events at the venue is not
guaranteed and there will be no reduction in the fees
should the Ghillie not be able to attend for any reason.
9.8 Dogs are normally permitted at the fishing venue
however, where dogs are permitted, they must be kept
under control at all times.
9.9 It is Your responsibility to ensure that any children
or minors in your care are properly supervised by an
adult at all times.
9.10 Any complaint about any matter relating to the
service, event or venue booked by you should be
reported immediately to Ian Gordon and in writing
within 24 hours of the cause for complaint. Failure to
do so may result in no action being taken.
