Waterside Lodge River deveron

Deveronside fishings 4 miles of double bank fishing for up to 6 rods on what is one of Scotland's hidden gems when it comes to fly-fishing. Although the aim and main part of the course is built on casting, there is very much plenty fishing to be done here. Late April and early May offering the chance of a spring salmon, as well as some fantastic Brown Trout fishing.

The Lodge has 3 double and two twin rooms, all with En-Suite or private bathroom. Non fishing guests sharing a room are very welcome at a supplement.

The course is aimed at people who have fished for some time and feel they are not getting the best from their equipment, knowledge or fishing in general.

The course will consist of between 4 and 6 people. The ghillie, Carl, is an excellent salmon fisherman and top level Trout angler, he will be on hand to help throughout the time on the river. Because this has excellent potential for trout fishing, anyone interested in this will love the variety of the fishing and service we provide..

This Residential course focuses very much on the individual, their particular fishing as well as casting and tackle.

  • Single Spey Cast with Sink Tip

  • Double Spey Cast

  • Circle C

  • Snake Roll

  • Casting off both shoulders

DJI_0500.DNG

Experienced or a beginner,  this course is designed to focus on casting and fishing, utilising Ian’s wide knowledge of both and covering tactics that will make you a better Salmon and Sea Trout Angler as well as a proficient caster. This is a small rod river with much focus on today's popular rod lengths of rods between 11' and 13'6".

Over the 3 days we will look at the following -

• Casting off the opposite shoulder - Why?
• The principles of casting with sunk lines and sink tips. Tactics - Why?
• Teaching you to Fault Find.
• How to fish a typical pool with the floating line.
• Lunch at the hut.
• Hooking, Playing, and Landing fish – The theory!
• Instruction and practice followed by a couple of hours of actual fishing in order to be able to relax and practice the techniques learned during the day.
• Knots, How to tie flies and leaders.

• Those Residential Casting and Fishing courses give everyone lots of time for casting/fishing/tackle theory with questions and answers. Although light-hearted, those sessions I find invaluable in the overall development of individual understanding.

Early Salmon tend to run to the middle and upper reaches of the Deveron at this time and is the first weeks of the season where, given good conditions [Water levels] there is a chance of a fish.

Our bespoke fishing and learning packages are designed to suit individual requirements and expectations.
