Despite the challenging dry conditions and low salmon numbers this spring, my fly casting courses were a resounding success, filled with enthusiastic participants who offered truly fantastic feedback. In fact, the demand has been so high that my residential courses on the River Deveron for next year are already fully booked – a testament to the positive impact these courses have, not just on the anglers, but also on the rivers and beats that host them.
Currently, my residential courses are held at Waterside on the Deveron, and my non-residential sessions take place at Castle Grant on the Spey. However, with an eye towards making these enriching experiences more accessible to a wider audience, I am exploring the possibility of bringing my highly sought-after courses to other beautiful rivers across the UK, complete with conveniently located riverside accommodation.

This presents a unique opportunity for owners of distinguished rivers, well-appointed lodges, and productive fishing beats outside the northeast of Scotland. Imagine the prestige and positive attention that hosting one of the world's leading fly casting coaches could bring to your property. Your venue would become a focal point for anglers eager to learn and refine their skills under expert guidance, generating valuable exposure and associating your location with excellence in the angling community.
This past spring was truly exceptional, a joy to witness so many anglers learn, improve, and simply revel in the pleasure of fly fishing. These courses are about more than just casting; they foster a wonderful sense of camaraderie among like-minded individuals, all set against stunning natural backdrops and guided by a well-regarded coach known for both his expertise and engaging storytelling.
If you possess a suitable venue anywhere in the UK and are interested in exploring the mutually beneficial possibilities of hosting a 3-day fly casting course for 4-6 participants, I would be delighted to hear from you at your earliest convenience. Let's discuss how we can bring this unique and popular experience to your river, enhancing its reputation and creating lasting positive associations.

I can tell you from personal experience that the fly fishing and casting courses organised by Ian Gordon are truly value for money. Although not everything can be measured in money. The events organised on Deveron have also been memorable trips where my wife and I have experienced new things and made new friends. We have travelled all the way from Finland and I believe that I will travel to Scotland to fish and learn about your fishing culture as well as to have new experiences in the following springs. Thanks to the Scottish hospitality and especially Ian's personal guidance and friendly hosting in great accommodation conditions (such as Waterside Lodge). Maybe to the Spey River someday.
